Women of Indiana Agribusiness Session Four

An awareness of how and when strengths become impediments is essential for women seeking to make full use of their talents. Sally Helgesen’s "How Women Rise" workshop spurs this awareness, while also offering a simple template of action for addressing the habits, beliefs and attitudes most likely to get in the way of building a career that is energizing, sustainable and rewarding or realizing full leadership potential.

The workshop draws on the book How Women Rise, which Sally co-authored with top-ranked executive coach Marshall Goldsmith. Drawing from decades of research, hands-on leadership development work and coaching, the book identifies the internal barriers most likely to undermine women’s best efforts.

Mixing original content and vivid real-life examples with interactive exercises, guided peer coaching and group work, Sally helps participants to:

  • Identify the specific habits (or cluster of habits) most likely to undermine their best efforts
  • Understand how these habits are rooted in strengths
  • Initiate simple behavioral tweaks that can smooth their path and make them more effective
  • Hold themselves accountable for changes that can benefit them and their organizations
  • Become a more powerful resource for women coming up

Participants will come away from this program with:

  • An enhanced understanding of their individual strengths
  • A clear-eyed recognition of their individual challenges
  • An actionable template for addressing these challenges
  • A proven means for strengthening their webs of support
  • A program of action for engaging male champions in women’s ongoing development
